Critique for Neill
Neill has been on our workshops before and recently attended our Rosa Brighid session in Nottingham. This is his follow-up critique. I think you will agree Neill has captured some great shots.
There are a few little detail glitches. The ear is distracting and the boobs are not quite balanced.
That sunlight looks lovely doesn't it - terrific colour tones, so warm. The pose works well in opening the body against the clothes and the background is nicely there without being overwhelming.
Nice longs legs, though I'm not sure about cropping the foot off. Love the tones again. It looks slightly wonky to me, drops to the left. The smooth skin tones against the rough wall make a great contrast.
Smashing window light image, lovely ripples of light and dark across the figure. The version you've sent is slightly overblown in the highlights, I suspect your original is better, For me I would give just a little boost on the right hand side to bring in a little extra detail.
Really nice close up/abstract shot. Just really well seen and the dynamic of the curves and lines within the frame work really well. The square crop is perfect for this.
Really strong pose with a perfect camera position. The leading lines of the hands, arms, knees work really well. I remember I was a bit dubious when you were shooting but it has come out really well.
Another smashing delicate nude study. The soft light works so well. Nothing to do with you, but I would just tone down the edges of Rosa's tan lines on her hips, they are distracting. I would also zap the dark brick on the upper left for the same reason.
This is a good little set, if you are thinking of competition entries then give all the backgrounds a really good check for any little distractions 'cos judges will pick on that. I would also look at exploring the darker tones in these, a little but of brightness could make big differences. Enjoyed looking at these.
