One chair, one pose - make the most of it.

I want to talk about making the most of any instance in the studio. Here we have one chair, one position on the chair, just look at the changes and different looks we've been able to achieve, by slight tweaks to the pose or to the camera position.

Shooting in a corridor with gels

This shoot is about (a) working in a confined space and (b) using gels on lighting sources behind the model.

Pinup Shoot Critique for Ed

Ed came in for a one-on-one mentoring session shooting pinups with Nikkia Sabblier - who runs her own fifties / retro clothing shop as well as modelling.

Rich is one of our regular studio users and we're just about to start some one-on-one tuition. As you will see below Rich has reach a reasonable level of competency and has some interesting ideas and puts some effort into settings this up, so...

Down in the Dungeon

Looking down upon the figure gives the viewer a sense of power over a vulnerable figure. Lighting Diagram A fairly stark lighting is required here, with the main light being the narrow softbox.

Critique for John D.

Like this is strong monochrome. The hard lighting brings out a strong sense of drama. It is maybe slightly windy at the top of the image - you could lose a couple of inches and get a strong image.
