AOP part 2: The Location and the Shoot
The location was a disused factory in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham. I have used the location several times for workshops. Sadly it is now gone.
What is fun is standing at the top of the awkward stairs required to climb up to this floor and listening to the workshop attendees come in. Without exception they turn the last corner and go "Wow". Just like I did when I first saw it.
This is the larger room and is light and airy. Other rooms were more coloured and smaller to work in. The whole place has some gorgeous natural light, none of it direct.
I had booked Maja to work with me on a workshop the next day. I always make sure that I work with the model before a workshop so I can understand their skills, boundaries and talents. Normally this happens well in advance, but scheduling difficulties meant we had just 4 hours on the day before the workshop.
I had no specific plan other than getting to know Maja and building a working rapport for the next day.
