AOP part 42: Frozen Motion

I knew the location had a box of various costumes. Now stylistically these were not really Maja's thing, but nevertheless I thought we would give them a try and they have worked very well.

Now working in a big space often needs big posing and similarly, big posing needs a big space. In lots of studios this shot would not have been possible because we would have run out of background.

Also you will see by the lighting that I have used studio flash here. I wanted to freeze the veils in motion and not have blurry smudges which the natural light would have given me.

Note, this isn't about the shutter speed, it is about the shortness of the flash duration.

The shutter speed is 1/100th of a second, slow enough that the veils would blur. But the flash duration is a fraction of that, maybe around 1/1000th of a second - that is what freezes the motion in the image.
